Week 10 Post - Why Android Operating System > iOS?

               Are you in the market for a new smartphone but you don’t know what type or even where to start? Well in my experience when you find something you love and know how to use it that is always a good starting point. There are many options when it comes to brands of phones but only two operating systems to choose from. You iOS, which is Apple and is more secure than the other but less customizability. And there is the Android operating system, which is less secure and more customizability. Whatever you end up choosing, just to make sure you are comfortable with the operating system that you choose, because often you are stuck with that phone for 2+ years.

Week 9 Post - Portable Applications and What Are They?

          The simplest way to phrase what a portable application is, software program that does not need to be installed on a computer. These portable applications do not make any changes to Windows Registry or changes to the configuration of the computer. They can either be single, standalone executable program or as a program bundled with a bunch of configuration files in a single folder. There are quite a few advantages to using portable applications, with the main one being portability, takes up less space and they are very secure as well. No need to install and configure programs countless times, you can just copy your portable apps to a non-windows partition, so they are not affected.

Week 7 Post - Advantages and Disadvantages to Cloud Computing

               When it comes to cloud computing, there are many advantages and disadvantages. And I am going to talk about a few of these. One major advantage is cost reduction, it basically costs less money to run on the cloud than it would to have an abundance of servers and network cabling. One of the biggest disadvantages of cloud computing is downtime, if your internet connection goes down you and your users basically cannot do anything. So, I would have to say there are advantages and major disadvantages to cloud computing, but I think the benefits outweigh the disadvantages, simply because how often does your internet complete go down in today’s age. 

Week 6 Post - Choosing the Best File System For You

               When you are choosing a file system it is important to consider which operating system you are running, if you are running windows, you probably want to use NTFS, which is the default system for Windows and offers security, recovery, and performance benefits. If you happen to run a Linux operating system you may want to use ext4, which is the most widely used file system for Linux and offers stability, scalability, and efficiency. Whichever file system you decide to use, make sure you do as much reason as possible and check to make sure it is compatible with your current operating system, the worst thing you could do is choose the wrong file system with the wrong operating system.
